This is intended to be a homage to very many musicians I've loved since I started listening to music. My intention is to tell what I know about them, hoping that those people who like them too, will help me fill numerous gaps, which I may have in their careers and discographies. Sorry, but there are no MP3 audio files here at all, just info (and love for the musicians).

Sergio Castillo

Sad news struck when it was announced that Sergio Castillo had passed away on March 10th, 2012 due to cancer. He was 57. Spanish rock scene will miss him a lot, both as a producer and drummer. This is my tribute to Sergio. I started writing my page about him in 2002 (yes, 10 years ago! But for some reasons I always waited to publish it, thinking that it was incomplete as it´s difficult finding accurate info on live lineups for Spanish lead singers).

A benefit concert as a tribute to Sergio Castillo will be held in Madrid, Spain on April 27th, 2012, and many of his friends and colleagues will play there. For now, these are the names announced: Miguel Rios, Cristina Narea, Carlos Narea, Paco Bastante, Tito Davila, Carlos Brooking, Francis Sax, Marcela Ferrari, Antonio Calero, Geni, Manuel Villalta, Pana, Pancho Amat and Jose Antonio Romero.

QUESTIONS:

01. Was Gary Boyle a real member of She´s French, maybe when Sergio Castillo was in the band?

02. I still have to find credits for albums featuring Sergio by Victor Manuel, Ana Belen, Alaska, Leño, Raimundo Amador, Pasion Vega, Antonio Flores, Joan Manuel Serrat or Antonio Vega.

    Eric Lowen (vocals)

    BANDS:
    • Bon Mot
    • 20 Times
    • Lowen & Navarro

    BIOGRAPHY:

I haven´t too much details about Eric Lowen´s career, except for his musical ventures with Dan Navarro. He also appears singing backup in many albums, but one of his best skills was composing. Many artists have recorded songs penned by Lowen & Navarro, such as Pat Benatar, The Bangles, Dionne Warwick, Keb´ Mo´ or The Four Tops.

Eric Lowen was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as s Lou Gehrig's disease). This prevented him for touring more and more, until he had to retire from life in the road in 2009.

A benefit album, Keep the light alive - celebrating the music of Lowen & Navarro was recorded by some of their friends, such as Jackson & Severin Browne, The Bangles, The Refugees (with guest appearance by Kenny Edwards), etc.

Sadly, Eric lost his battle against disease and passed away on March 23rd, 2012. This page is short, but it´ll serve as my tribute to him.
